Error in Additive Post Processing

I am doing an>>  Actions: Post Processing

on and additive Manufacture process. I get the following error message:

"One or more operations are invalid. Do you want to continue anyway?"

Rather terse. Is there  a place to look these up?  I played with it a bit with no good results (I am new to additive processing)

f3d attached..

Many Thanks

Fritz

There's a bug that shows up when you select the Setup to post process it. Rather, select the actual additive toolpath:

Seth

I was selecting the Actions: Post-process in my original post.

I tried a right click on the "Additive Toolpath: Post-process" in the browser as you indicated and I still get the

"One or more operations are invalid" message.

Select the Additive Toolpath as indicated above. Click on the Post Process button. Go print your part 🙂

Hmmm--that didn't work---but then I re-did the Generate function and now it works as you stated, using your particular order. The doc is pretty sparse on this. Many thanks!

I am a little confused with how Fusion is positioning itself regarding post-processing for 3D printers:

Normally I take an STL file and feed it to a separate slicer, like Cura which generates G-code and then on to the printer.

However--The Fusion post-process generates G-code.  I am guessing that they are taking over the middle step above and generating  their own G-code that goes directly to the printer?

I think to put it another way--Fusion is taking over the role held by Cura which is a "slicer".

That would make sense but see the following post from a short time ago:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/downloads/caas/downloads/content/slicer-for-fusion....

So I am little confused about what Fusion intends here-

Thanks again

The Slicer add-in is not the same as a slicer for 3d printing. The Slicer was a stop-gap tool to be able to turn 3d objects, such as a car or mannequin, into 2d stacked slices. Think of cutting out a whole bunch of flat cardboard and stacking it into a 3D shape; that's what Slicer was.

As for the direction Fusion is going with the Additive, I'm not qualified to speak on the bigger scope, as it's out of my purview. I'll let @Sualp.Ozel chime in if he has a moment to share

Hi everyone

Seth is correct . The "Slicer for Fusion 360" was an old Add-in. You can watch this video from 2017 to see what it was used for https://youtu.be/4fFH_TcI-9U . If this is of interest to you, can still use it but we no longer are making improvements / bug fixes for it or support it.

When it comes to Additive Manufacturing: orienting parts generating support structures, slicing /generating toolpaths for various 3d Printing technologies such as FFF, SLA/DLP, SLS, SLM and others, we are fully committed.

If you look at Keqing's blog on 2020 review, you can easily see what we have been up to last year in this regard and get a sense of things to come in 2021 in the area of Additive manufacturing in Fusion 360.

Hope this helps

Thank you Sulap and Seth. I just wanted to be sure that I was using the best methods. I will be playing more with 3D manufacture going forward. (No need for the older add-on).

cheers
