Engraving Single Lines on 4th Axis

I'm trying to engrave some lines on a round part. Wrapped tool paths just don't seem to want to generate. You can see a screenshot of my part.

I've tried:

  • projecting the sketch as shown onto the surface
  • using the 2d sketch at the center of the part
  • using an offset plane

If I make some text, and select that, I get a toolpath.

Any ideas?

When things just stop working you delete all toolpaths (sometimes set up as well) and just start again with toolpaths.

It is a pain I know very well but is the only fix when toolpaths start being a-holes and will not work at all.

Whatever is going wrong one of the dev guys will need to have a look at it, what is in the screencast works fine.

Shoot, yeah that was a whole brand new part with all new sketches. Unwrap geometry gives me an error. I'll keep trying as it worked before and obviously does for you. 😞

lol, now it works fine....is some dev out there screwing with me? I just regenerated the same toolpaths on my old part that gave this error with unwrap geometry set to Yes.

Error: No input contours have been specified.

Well I'm glad it's fixed! I hope I don't have to regenerate any more toolpaths!

Sometimes stuff gets stuck in Fusion and you have to do a reboot to clear it, it can make silly stuff happen.

you have to ever reboot the computer

or

take the computer offline reboot it and start fusion up then reboot again, start it back up get fusion up and running then turn the net back on, this sounds completely stupid but can work to clear problems.

If this makes no differences and you have tried doing a new setup and toolpaths after deleting the previous try, you may have something completely wrong in fusion and will need help from support and can you post a screencast of you doing the setup and trying to do the toolpath.
