Drilling 10,000s of holes

Hello,

Im trying to create custom acoustic panels and to this end would like to have my cnc machine drill 1mm holes every 3mm, i have been trying to use points for this, the stock size is about 500x500 which means some 30,000 ish holes. no matter how i try and pattern them it just locks up and goes not responsive. When doing the DRILL cam work Ive understood that i can tell it to select same size holes within a boundary which would perfectly suit my needs as i could blanket the whole area with points and then have it select only those within the shape needed, but thats impossible as its just locks up. Ive lowered everything GPU wise etc. Any way to make this possible/work with many points or holes in general? Alot of my projects have what feels like too many parts for fusion to run happily, maybe there is something im missing?

Ok so turning off history and setting to Order by Selected fixed everything, it computes in seconds now.... but there is hours of wasted time in moving around to different holes.

In your latest attempt, are you selecting Points or modeled holes?

In your attached file, I'm only finding one sketch with 625 holes on it. Calculation time is very quick. Am I missing something?

Hi, im using selected points and then select same size and a boundary. Ive since figured out that i can set it to order by X or Y and that gives a very very clean cam that combined with history disabled means it calculates in seconds. Ive attached screenshots to show what i mean. I think the problem here is that its set to optimize by default which in 99% of cases i bet its the right choice but in this case it caused my computer to give up on the math of it all

ordered " As Selected"ordered " As Selected"

Ordered "by X"Ordered "by X"

so many points!so many points!

This seems to be the appropriate place to ask an additional question.

When drilling holes birdsnesting is a problem - Haas has this great suggestion - https://youtu.be/d1ATntHemHk?t=134 but it does not seem possible to make a cycle in Fusion for this.

There is a drop down drill cycle called Custom - but there is no information on what is possible.

Being able to Add E2000 at the end of each drill cycle would seem like something that makes sense and should be possible to standardise.

How do we vo about it?
