Document Level Tool Library

How do you delete tools from the "Document" level list?  It appears I have a bad definition for one of my tools (#16).  For some reason, it is in the document level as #16 .04 diameter, when in my local library as #16 .3125.  Every time I edit an operation that was set up using my local library #16 .3125, it reverts to the #16 .04 diameter tool, causing me to have to reselect from my local library.  I have even tried deleting all operations and setups. As soon as I create a new one, there is a pre-populated document level list, even though there are no operations defined yet.    So frustrating.

Just posted this to our CAM Forums - http://camforum.autodesk.com/index.php?topic=6588.0

Have you tried it on the Windows OS System as well?

I don't use Windows for CAD/CAM... Is there no mechanism to delete tools, maybe even a workaround?

I am not at my Mac right now but have you tried to delete using the tool library vs being in the edit operation dialog.  If I am not mistake they are 2 different interfaces for now and you might need to delete it there.

So when I go to tool library, nothing appears under document (with no setup/operations). This makes sense to me. However, when I create a new setup and operation, the "old" tools re-appear in the document library and they can be deleted. So this is odd to me and I'm not sure if it is a bug. I would have thought deleting all operations/setups should clean out the document tool library and not just "hide" it until such time that you create another operation. Make sense?

I will check when I get back to my SW/HSMWorks install because I think it is working the same way.

I know that deleting operations will not delete the tools from the library.  I am pretty sure that deleting setups does not either.  Once they are in the document tool library they are there until you delete them.

As you state would be fine (ideal). The distinction is that you cannot see the older document level tools (browsing the library) until you create a new setup. The document library is empty.

I see what you are saying and them not showing up with out a setup present is probably a bug.

I just confirmed in SW that deleting setups does not remove tools, however if I open the tool library they still show up there.

Hi all -

It certainly sounds like there's a defect or 2 here; we'll get them reported and fixed at the next opportunity.

Thanks for the communication!

Hi all -

We've been looking at this a bit, and I want to clarify what folks are really seeing3)

Working with the *Windows* tool library, here's what I see:

1) Even if you have no setups in your document, you should still see any tools that were previously added to the document. If this isn't the case, I'd like to understand why not.

2) This should also be the case for the new (Mac) tool library

3) With the Mac tool library, we don't support deleting tools from the *select* dialog; you need to delete them from the "Tool Library Manager".

Jeff,

The only issue I was seeing was on the MAC.  If I have a setup programmed then delete the setup and open the tool library there are no tools.  If I add a new setup even with no operation and open the tool library the tools appear.
