Depth of Cut

Hi,

I plan to use 2D Contours to cut 34" Baltic Birch plywood. I plan to use 3/8" compression bit. I wonder if I need to set the Multiple Depths & Maximum Roughing Stepdown value and if so to what value? Or can I cut it in one pass?

That depends on the machine.

What is it?

What Hp is it?

What brand off-cutter?

It is a Chinese cNC Routher, 4.7KW HSD, Vortex bit.

I wonder from the point of view of the Spindle and the bit.

The best thing to do is just try different depths of cut, start from 1/4 of the flute length and go from there.

Hi,

I usually use 1/2 the diameter of bit. I did try higher value and it did cut. Not sure where is the point where one would say this is too much or too little.

That's the default safe cutting feed, speed, and depth tool paths like Adaptive you can run it at 100% depth, and depending on the material you can go way over 10% width of cut, you can only know this by trying it.
