depth not the same input

After years of using a competitors CADCAM package Im in the early stages of learning Fusion and would let to help on this one. Using the Contour toolpath I want to machine to a final depth of -17.8mm from a depth of -12mm. Oddly (to me) I have to input 1mm off the actual depths. so to machine down to -17.8mm I have to enter -16.8mm. Any ideas why?

Thanks in advance

Hi @ian.bell2DHTT, I think it's because your stock is 1mm above the top of your model. So while the distance from model top is 16.8 the distance from the top of stock is 17.8.

@ian.bell2DHTT , just to add a bit of clarification, the number in blue is an absolute number from your setup origin.  You input "from model top -16.8".  So your origin is not on the model top, it's 1mm above, probably the top of your stock as @Joshua.Aigen assumed.

My origin was set to 'model set point'. Changing it to 'model origin' corrected the problem

thank you both
