Cutting Arcs

Hi

OK, when I try to cut a circle, I get a BUNCH of tiny XY moves. Even when I crank up the tolerance. Using  HAAS VF-2 and the Haas post. Is there a setting that will actually use full or half arcs? In Mastercam, which is what I used for years, there is a simple setting to use arcs or not. When I'm cutting an arc you can really feel the machine jerk around on the arc, and the programs are HUGE, compared to what they should be.

Thanks

John

What toolpath are you using? How have the arcs been drawn? If they are imported geometry, are they actual arcs, or being recognized as splines?

Could you export and share your model?

File > Export > Save to local folder. Return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply

Have you tried turning on the Smoothing option in the toolpath(s)?

Hi

Yes, the tolerance defaults to .0004, so I bumped it up to .004, and the smoothing is set to the same.

I still need ROUND holes, lol.

Thanks

Again, could you export and share your model? This may be a model issue, or it could be a CAM issue, won't know until we see

Without seeing your file it's tough to know exactly what's going on. Turning on smoothing generally does it but I've also had to mess with tolerances.

I really wish Fusion would default to using arcs rather than line segments. In my other CAM software I can specify, very clearly, if I'd like the specific post to use line segments vs arcs. With fusion 360 it's voodoo. I often have to look at the g-code carefully or back plot the code to ensure I am getting arcs rather than a segments.
