Creating Profile slices of a 3d object for cutting/milling

Hi there,
I'm trying to take a 3d object, and create a series of cross section profiles from it to then cut on a cnc machine.
This is to build a plug for a large mold. The sections need to all slot together and provide a reference structure for a mold in multiple dimensions.

I saw this article on how it can be done automagically in 123D.  (see pictures below)
https://www.instructables.com/Laser-Cut-a-3D-object-using-123D-Make/

I wish Fusion 360 had this functionality, but I've heard anecdotally it does not.
Is this something can be achieved in Fusion 360 with minimal effort, or with the aid of any known plugins?

Thank you

No, this cannot currently be done in Fusion. In times past, we did have a Fusion "Slicer" application that could do just this. Alas, it has been deprecated (but still available for download):

The free Slicer for Fusion 360 is still available (but not longer supported). It is not completely intuitive to use but Kevin Kennedy has a great explainer tutorial:

Thank you very much for this workaround. It's something!

I think this sort of functionality is incredibly valuable, and really should have official support restored, or at least the code made open source for the community to contribute to.

Some examples of where it's valuable in today's cutting edge manufacturing:

- creating large scale molds & plugs for composite construction, where it would be prohibitively expensive to use model board. e.g. Boat building & aerospace manufacturing.

Here's an example of where experts in composite construction needed to use this approach, and in this video say they spent days creating the slices. This was the construction of sled molds for a record breaking expedition to the north pole.

- Creating furniture, lamps, sculptures etc

Here's an example of where the stacked pattern would be used in the very latest plug/mold creation for aerospace:

I would appreciate having my vote added for this functionality added in Fusion360 and my comments passed on as appropriate. IMO We're doing more cnc and composite construction now than ever before.
Thank you

I sadly can't remember the program name, but someone in the #Cnc router tips group on facebook does this sort of thing for his job, and his software WILL create all the slices for you automatically.

Please click "Accept Solution" if what I wrote solved your issue!

We've had some light discussion on bringing some functionality back into use, but it's still very early in that stage.
