Creating Holding Tabs in 3D model

I found where I can have Fusion 360 automatically create holding tabs in 2D CAM, but can't find an option in 3D.

Do I need to create them myself in the model?

Thanks for posting! Unfortunately, only some 2D toolpaths contain the Tabs options in Fusion 360, so you will need to create them in the model when using 3D operations. To avoid cutting the tabs with the 3D operations, I would recommend using some of the tips in this article - think of your tabs as fixtures.

Thanks for the link.  There is definitely a learning curve associated with Fusion 360, but I think I'm going to really like it once I get to the top.

I believe I figured out a way by setting the 3D operations to leave 2mm of stock at the bottom, then finishing up with a 2D operation leaving the tabs.

Could someone please explain the method to avoid cutting the tabs with the following 3D operations? First I create them by 2D Contour and them I should somehow be able to avoid them in 3D operation (eg. 3D Contour). I just don't get it how that can be done.

It seems that it's impossible. That's kind of funny. There should definitely be tabs in 3D Contour as well.

Tabs are created in the background for the purpose of giving 2D toolpaths something to avoid. Yes, it would be nice if that tech was available in the 3D toolpaths as well, but, alas, they are not 😞
