Convex Radius Cutter pass?

Just trying to cut a simple convex slot but can't get the cutter to anything but spring pass the stock.  Should I be in something other than 2D Contour?

Put a negative finish allowance equal to the radial depth of the groove.

Thanks @DarthBane55 .  I'll give that try later today.  Is that the standard selection every time you're cutting an internal shape?

Not really standard I'd say, but in your case, because the edge is actually a radius, you have no edge to pick on the maximum size of your groove.  But if you had a square groove, you'd be able to pick the inside edge of the groove, which would not require any radial offset.

I've a few hours trying to figure out why Fusion is trying to cut the sides of the workpiece but I can't get it.  I've (sloppily) adjusted some of the tangential extensions so it clears the sides after the first radial pass so I can just stop the machine after.

 

Any idea how to fix this properly?

You have the sides selected, I can see it on your 1st picture.

When you select something, you can click on it again once it's blue.  Then there is a little box that pops up, and you can choose between closed contour or opened contour.  In your case it is opened contour, but this does not end there.  Once you clicked the 2nd time, you can add/remove geometry.   Add by simply clicking on other edges.  For you, remove the 2 little sides that are selected.  You hold CTRL when clicking on them I believe (I'm so used to it that I can remember by heart if it's CTRL or shift but you will figure this out real quick).  Once you have removed them, you need to then click the green check mark on that little popup, to confirm your selection.  Then you will be left with just that long line selected, and this is what you want here.

That's perfect. Not sure why I didn't think about the open/closed contour setting but after messing with a bit, I got it.  Thanks again, very much appreciated!
