CNC orientation issue

Howdy.

I have spent all morning trying to work out how to orient my cnc router correctly in Fusion. The cnc uses Mach3 software.

As seen in the picture, the router needs to rotate anticlockwise 90 deg. (The parts being machined are already oriented correctly to Fusion.)

Any help would be good.

Thanks

Hi

are you saying the X/Y axes are not oriented correctly in Fusion?

In machine builder the XYZ axes need to match the orientation of the Model Origin/View Cube

On your machine shown in that picture, which axis is X and which is Y?

OK  so you need to go to the machine library and  right click, edit the machine in machine builder

alaasW8M6T_0-1722479737828.png

then switch to design:

alaasW8M6T_1-1722479789194.png

Turn on the Origin, select the entire machine and then press M for Move

Set it to rotate, and select the Z axis as the rotate axis, then rotate it the direction you need.

Switch back to machine builder and confirm that the correct components are selected for X and Y etc

alaasW8M6T_3-1722479975899.png

Check using Preview Machine movements that everything is moving correctly

alaasW8M6T_4-1722480027184.png

Then Finish out of Machine builder to save the changes.

You will need to re select the machine from the Machine Library in your parts Setup to update it.

If you still run into trouble you can upload the machine here by right clicking on the machine in the Machine library and selecting export, then attach it to a  reply here.

Hi

I didn't realise this was one of the autodesk generic routers.

There is already one in the Fusion Library with the XY in the orientation you want.

the one you have Picked is the XYZ on head

You need to pick the one that says YXZ on head

alaasW8M6T_0-1722482086805.png

Also, you don't actually need to pick a machine in a setup to create toolpaths, its just a nice to look at thing for 3 axis work

Oh wow that's excellent.

Hard to spot the difference XY or YX, even had to read your post 3 times to pick it up.

Well that sorts that out. Thank you. Still have more problems to deal with but at least I can move on now.

Cheers
