Can the nest feature break up one large component onto multiple sheets?

Hi everyone,

I hope you're doing well, please excuse my ignorance, project file is uploaded below. I often need to create very large shapes utilizing multiple sheets of plywood. The one that I'm working on now is fairly simple, an octagon where each side is 8 ft. in length; however, the shapes are often a lot more complicated. I've used the Nest feature to nest multiple smaller pieces onto one sheet of plywood, but what I'd really like to be able to do is break up a much larger shape into smaller pieces which can each fit on one 4x8 ft sheet, and have fusion calculate the optimal layout in order to use as little material as possible. Is there a way to accomplish this? Again, I apologize if I'm missing something obvious, I've been researching all morning and haven't found a solution. Thanks so much for your help, let me know if you need any other information.

Oh how I wish the answer was yes! Firstly, this is not what nesting algorithms do, though I get why the two things might seem related.

I often need this for stuffl Like a scene floor with a curved contour. If all you need is a fast way to split a bodyi nto a grid this is so simple it almost wouldn't make sense have an algorithm for it. The tricky part is to optimize the orientation, size, offset and asymmetry of the grid for minimal material usage, which is where the nesting comes in. I guess the

combination of both the grid solutions

and the nest solutions would go crazy

pretty quickly - but like nesting, this can be solved. I do a lot of slicing of 3d objects as well and this can be even more mind boggling. There is definitely a market if someone can come up with a good solution.
