I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. I've tried slotting and 2D pocket. Not sure why I can't create a tool path. Please have a look and let me know. thanks!

I would do a 2D contour down one side.Your cutter is only 0.003" smaller than your slot, you might get away with a single pass. If not take a finish pass down the other side. You may need to do multiple step downs due to the depth. It would be interesting to hear what other guitar makers suggest.

Another method would be to draw the fret slots using the sketch slot tool. This would allow you to use 2d slot in cam.

hey thanks! The sketch slot tool is not something i have used before and it seems to produce a valid tool path. with the cam 2d pocket and slot I am not able to get a valid tool path. the warning i get is empty tool path and i can't seem to find a work around for those. but i will pursue the sketch slot tool further. instead of creating/extruding the slot in cad and laying the sketch slot tool at the bottom of the fret slot i created the sketch slot at the bottom of the part and offset the bottom, height to where the bottom of the fret slot should be. I was thinking this would save time making each fret slot in cad. I haven't finished all the cam procedures so i'll keep working at it. cheers!
