Can't decide A direction

Hi ,

I have 5 axis Fanuc Robodrill, the part is closer to the position when A axis is rotated to A+ direction but when part is long I have more distance in machine rotated to A- direction so my needs change for each operation.  I tried to use "Tool Orientation" but it doesnt effect the A direction, I can change it with post processor or machine builder but they changes all of the A axis rotations. In short I want to decide rotation direction of A axis for each operation. Can it be done with Fusion360?

Also I noticed this : The A direction changes randomly; When I Post Process full program in some operation rotates to A- but when I Post Process only that operation it rotates to A+. Also same for the other way. And this is very dangerous for me because tools can crush rotary table. So What is the solution

Thanks,

Hello, @dorukhanPUMCA .

Yes, it is possible. But not very convenient now.

First option is simple and does not require changes in post. You can crate two machines with two different axis preferences, positive in one and negative in another. And use these machines in different setups. But it will not allow you to use different preferences in specific operations and in a single program.

Second option is more complicated. You need to change post to get it working.

You can add an operation post property (see section 5.1.4 in Post Processor Training Guide (autodesk.com) how to do this) , let say "A-axis preference" with three options, like "machine default", "positive" and "negative".

Than you need to use this preference in post to override machine axis preference for each specific operation, and use this machine for calculating machine angles for either 3+2 or 5-axes operations.

About random directions. It is possible, when you don't have any preference on machine axes, postprocessor will try to keep angles as close as possible to previously used ones. So, operation alone can use one solution, but if it appears after another one, it can use different solution.
