can not select 2d contour closed contour on body

Hi, I have done this before with same part. I did make slight edits to this one smoothing ruff edges using extrude join and cut.

I cannot upload file due to size. It is a flat part 3/4 inch cut from 3/4 inch ply. Please notify me and I will email to you.

I am trying to select this body to cut a 2 d contour. Please note the inside of the part can be selected entirely using a mouse click.

The outside of part will not accept a full contour with a mouse click. I then select the edges around the part and the contour will not cut in some places selected. Plus the mill does a weird squiggly up and down movement in some places where it should just cut a smooth, stepped down contour.

This is a pain cause it never happened before. thank you in advance, JR

What happens if you make your contour selection like this:

Hey Seth, thank you. The video is great. I went back into design and just magnified the part way up. I notice a little nick in edge, done when I did an extrude cut. I fixed the nick and terrific the one click came back.

Check out this video, I  use a .dxf file for laser cutting. just check 2d File selection.
