I want f360 to import a tool library that is on my desktop. when i click import tool library and select the json file, i believe it just copies that file and moves it to a default location with all the other tool libraries. is there a way to leave my tool library file on my desktop, and have F360 access it?

Hi @CuttingEdgeManufacturing

Unfortunately currently it not possible to link the folder for tool libraries at the moment, Which is something in the roadmap
When you import the library the file will be copied to this local folder

"C\*username*\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\CAM360\libraries\Local" you can put file directly over and you can modify the .json there so it dynamically updates the tool library.

Hope this information helps somewhat 🙂

unfortunately not. i am creating software that is used for tooling inventory purposes. and the computer that will use this software is not the host computer that runs f360. the software reads the json file to populate a gridview and adds in a few more properties that i use in the software.

considering making an automated script that just copies the file from the original location to a server that both host and the other computer can reach.. might be my only option for now.
