CAM is being funky as can be...

Good Day. Please forgive what may be a horribly written help question.

I am getting the weirdest bugs on a project. For example. I set the feed to 400IMP, but when I post to CNC the cnc see's it as something totally different. I have no idea how fast the machine will run. Sometimes at 800 IPM, and sometimes at 13IMP. I've tried deleting the toolpath and starting over, but I get the same issue. When I look at the G Code, I see where the feed has changed to 400imp, but the cnc just ignores it and chooses some random feed rate.

AND.. Now for from reason when I run a 2D contour around a 4 sided part, the one axis is spot on and runs right along the edge I selected perfectly, (Lets call that the 2 vertical legs of the part along the Y axis) but the other axis (Lets call that the horizontal top and bottom along the X axis) is off by about .125". As a result, one side of the part is .125 short, and the other is .125 long. BUT.. the ends (Y axis) are perfect. I'm loosing my mind! It's like the part shifted exactly .125" one direction and got milled. It however did not move.

I keep thinking I'm off my WCS, but nope. Checked that, spot on. The part also has a small .120" drilled hole, and it lines up perfectly where it should be, so I know my part is in the correct place on the machine. All my Z heights are spot on.

I send my G-Code to the machine on Google drive. ie.. Cloud, but I tried it with a flash drive as well. Same problem.

I think there may be corruption in the file perhaps? It is ALL happening in one file, and also seems to hate a new 1/2" ballend tool I just added to by cloud library.  I've restarted everything multiple times, but I can't get this file to run without problems.

HELP!!!!!!!!

What should I be looking for to problem solve this?  Oh... I'm no CAD ninja, but I've been using Fusion successfully for about 4 years, and I have a pro license. For my needs, Fusion has been great, but this has me ready to boot the computer to the curb.

Any assistance would SUPER appreciated so I can run this job and get the parts to my client asap. Thank you!!!

This really sounds like a machine problem not a Fusion issue, but to make a fair assessment of the issue we need ideally, the fusion file, the post processor and what machine and controller your are using.

If you could supply that it will be easier to help.

Regards

Andrew

Thanks for the reply! I don’t disagree. I think I may be as well. Is there a place to email this info? The CAD file is not for public viewing.

Let's start at the beginning:
1) What is your machine
2) What is the material
3) What is the control and what post processor are you using?

If you want to send me the file, you can email it directly: seth dot madore @ autodesk dot com

Reference this thread so I understand the context of the email

Thank you Seth! I will email the file to you.

1. Machine is a Shop Sabre IS408 router.

2. Material is epoxy impregnated wood

3. Controller is WinCNC. Post is the stock Shop Sabre manual tool change from the AD post library.

Anything you can gather from that?  🙂  AND thank you again for trying to help me figure this out.

Thanks Seth for being amazing! After several emails and a few perfectly asked questions, Seth realized it was a small issue with my set up that translated into an epic misaligned part! In short.... user error! Thanks Seth. You’re amazingly helpful!
