Best way to import traced images from Illustrator?

(This is a follow-up to one of my previous posts)

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/adobe-illustrator-dxf-export-not-importing-properl...

So, in the end the solution @jhackney1972 provided worked for that particular context.

As he said it was a lousy export and such, so I have to ask: What is the best way to trace images? Should I trace them in Illustrator and Export to Fusion, or should I trace the images directly in Fusion?

I know there's probably a million ways to do this, I'm (and @sibejanSJ too!) just curious what is considered the best way to Trace an image for CNC Routing.

I have to add that sometimes the images we're tracing are quite simple (e.g. the presents in my previous post are children's drawings) but other times the images to be traced are quite complex and we don't have time to perfectly trace these point by point.

If you look at the previous post, you'll see that there were some errors (unconnected lines, etc.) in the design. Is there a way within Fusion to highlight all these errors which prevented me from extruding?

Hi @robin_brouwer245, I have seen many ways to bring in files to Fusion from Illustrator not just one and I don't know what's best, sorry. I like DXF, though I have seen where things are not connected, and your post found me searching.

What I found was this DXF Import Utility  and a Fusion tips YouTube on it, HERE.

If you do a ton of DXF to Fusion work then I'd say this is the answer, if not the I've always found SVGs as a good alternative to DXF. I would like to see what others have to say as well, thanks for the post.

I have tried the DXF Import Utility but it's not what I need. Thanks for mentioning it though, as it is a good tool for large quantity imports. What I meant to ask was a couple different ways to import an image that was traced in Illustrator without having to troubleshoot all the missing points/lines as I had in the previous post I mentioned.
