A-axis is reversed after Post. Simulation shows correct orientation??

I have a 5 axis program where I am using a HAAS TR160 trunnion with a VF-2 YT machine. During simulation, the trunnion is behaving as programmed. When I post using HAAS - Next Generation Control, the nc program shows the A axis going negative ( A-90 ) and verified on the machine as going negative. Why is the simulation showing the A-axis rotating Positive but the nc program going negative? Program and nc file attatched.

Hi @jmendes57 ,

i looked into your project but i wasnt able to find any operation where the A-axis is rotating positive in machine simulation. Does that happen on a specific operation only?

Thanks for the quick reply. Did you simulate the program with machine?

In that image, and I get the same when I simulate the machine the Trunnion IS going Negative according to standard axis conventions, Its possible your Haas has the A axis reversed for some reason, are you saying that on your machine in that position the A axis is A+90?

Yes, Verified from the controller. The NC code shows A-90 after posting and the trunnion actually turns to the rear of the machine at 90° (part is at the backside of the machine). We had to change the A-90 on the controller to A90 so that it would face toward the operator as seen in the simulation. That is what I find strange. I was assuming the machine configuration would follow what the simulation is showing me - turning the part toward the operator but the NC says otherwise in real time it turns the part toward the back. Any ideas? And you are saying that the actual axis orientation result for A-90 is the part facing toward the operator?

Yes in the Standard axis convention the part would face towards you at A-90

Some Haas have it backwards for some reason(It is a Haas after all haha)

You can change it in the machine definition

set  the a Axis to custom and -1 on the X

then change the range to 0 -120 deg and it should fix it

Depending on your shop, Haas also has a machine setting to invert the A axis. For our vf2ss, it is A reverse, C yes in the post.
