5-Axis Drilling Pattern Retracts Fully Home

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with a 5-axis drilling operation in Fusion 360 where the tool retracts fully to the home position between patterned holes, instead of making a slight retract, indexing, and then drilling the next hole.

The tool should just drill a hole, retract a little & index to the next hole's position (Just a c axis index) , and then drill.

But After drilling each hole in the pattern, the tool retracts all the way to the machine's home position (or a very high Z clearance) before indexing and moving to the next hole.
I'm simulating & its going to be used on a Haas Vf2

I checked all the different possible settings in heights, linking etc. Thank you if anyone can help. Attaching file

Hi

Fusion does not perform multi-axis linking moves between toolpaths.

A patterned toolpath is just a bunch of individual toolpaths so it will always do a full retract between them just like it does between any other toolpaths.

Proper multi-axis drilling is on the 2025 roadmap for Fusion so hopefully we will see a better solution this year
