3d Spiral toolpath - Is there a reason 2 passes are generated?

I'm machining some small rounds in the mill with a conical feature down the middle.  The spiral toolpath in simulation and in post has the tool making 2 identical passes.  Is there a reason for this?   Ain't nobody got time for dat!

I selected the "spiral" as Spiral Mode under Passes.

I don't see any options indicating I'd want to make more than one pass.  I'd like the tool to make ONE pass.  As it stands, the tool makes the spiral pass from outside to inside down the cone, retracts and repeats.

Can you post a model that shows this To do this Go to File -> Export and save as a .F3D Archive File and attach it to your next post, if you can not post the file you can PM it to me or say in your next post you can not post the file and one of the Guys that do NDA work will help.

File attached - Thanks Daniel.  The 3 setups are essentially the same thing.  I was running the test right now.  Each Spiral op. with different tools seems to make 2 passes.  Not the end of the world for most of them, but with T31 we're going for some intentional fine texture and the extra pass costs 15min EACH.  I hope this isn't some silly oversight on my end.

As long as you're looking...I just checked the Radial toolpath and for some reason it also goes around 2x (720°) with no retract in between.  I'd prefer one 360°.

@seth.madore

Are the 2 cuts in the spiral toolpath by design.

They shouldn't be.....

Let me dig into this. I smell a bug.

As a workaround for the duplicate spiral toolpaths, I've changed them to Morphed Spiral, which only makes one pass.

I apologize for the delay in responding, I found myself dealing with some other bugs the last couple of days.

Regarding Spiral, the issue lies in all the selections you have thrown at it. I think it's technically a bug, so I will log it as soon as I can. So, how do we not end up with multiple passes? Just set it to "Outside > In" and leave the other settings as such:

Thanks Seth, I'll try that next time...in the middle of that lengthy T31 operation.  I did post a new thread about the Radial making two "laps" around the part instead of one.  Also tried changing some of those options under passes from "don't care", but with no effect.
