3D pocket - empty path

I am having a problem generating a 3D pocket toolpath for the component shown below:

I have created a sketch to provide a boundary for the half circular pocket elements as shown:

First Question: Is creating a sketch like this the correct/best way to define the geometry for these pockets (I cannot find any way to select the geometry from the component)

Second Question: From this geometry I have succeeded in creating a 3D pocket toolpath for one of the 2 features but the other one simply will not generate a path. I have tried fiddling with virtually every setting explicitly the same parameters as the successful path do not work)

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

The 3D Toolpaths are what is termed "Model Aware" which means they "see" the Model so it is usually best to use the Model for toolpathing. You may need to set boundaries and stock selections for best results.

It is always best to upload an example file for diagnosis, to upload a file go to :-

File > Export > Select f3d Format > Save to a location on your computer > Then attach to your reply

Thanks for your response. I have attached the model to this email. You will find the part I have described in "Manufacturing Model 1" and the operation which is causing the problem is "[T4] Pocket 3"
You will see that "[T4] Pocket 1" which is conceptually identical is working fine.
I added the sketch because I could find no way of selecting the geometry for the semi-circular pockets from the model. I think that the shallow flat pocket that intersects with these features is interfering with the ability to select a boundary that does not end up extending around the whole component. I am new to using the manufacturing features so I may be missing something obvious in how to make this selection.

I have uploaded to the post separately so hopefully you should see it now.

Accepted solution

A1: Creating a boundary with a sketch or selecting the edge of the model to hold the chain
A2: There is a problem with the stock and setup settings, and the shape recognition is not properly performed.

(view in My Videos)

1. It is recommended to delete all unused models from the manufacturing model.
-> Delete all the rest except for the wood parts to be used, there is nothing wrong with the original.

2. Since several areas can be selected in the 3D pocket toolpath, it is better to select them at once.

3. It is a good way to specify the machining area with a sketch, but in some areas, it is possible to designate by selecting the edge of the model. Check out the attached video and file.

Good luck.
