3D Adaptive Collisions

I've read the various posts on Adaptive collisions, but this simple case seems to be different.

I have a very simple ellipsoid to rough out. I'm getting collisions with stock.

I've eliminated leadins, and tried various options with Machine Boundary, but still get the same collisions.

Is there some other setting that could affect this toolpath?

How is it being held?
Simply enable Stock Contours (click nothing else) and it will start cutting from the outside.

I don't want to cut the material outside. I'm showing only the 3D Adaptive toolpath, but I eventually free it from stock using a 2D Contour with Tabs.

Problem: with Rest Machining turned off, Adaptive things it can rapid where it wants. However, turning Rest Machining "on" will then create a toolpath that goes everywhere, clearing all the stock away. Since this isn't desired, I'd do this:

1) Use Adaptive to get down a few levels, perhaps the length of flute. After that, go in with a 2D Contour on the perimeter to get down as deep as you can. After that, come back in with an Adaptive to finish off all the roughing.

I did something similar. I did a 2D contour to full depth with 2mm "radial stock to leave". Then 3D Adaptive with Silhouette machining boundary. No collisions.

(Note: If I change the "stock to leave" to 0, I get small collisions with the contour wall.)
