3 + 1 drilling on tormach 1100mx with micro arc troubles

Gday ,

I'm having trouble posting a 3+1 drilling operation at 6.5 degrees off center on a tormach with a 4th axis .

The tool orientation settings are correct as far as i can tell and i have done this same operation on haas and siemens based machines no problem.

i wounder if i need to tweak the post processor for drilling but that really isn't making much sense because milling operations are fine.

please help it probably something silly.

It should work fine

there is several places where this could be going wrong, The setup, the operations tool orientation and the machine definition

It's probably not the machine definition.

I see you have an edge selected for the X axis in the tool orientation, you normally only need to select the z axis and can leave the x with no selection

Can you share the file here?

Without taking a look at your selections it's very hard to diagnose.

Cheers for the quick reply and your help , please find attached the setup file .

setup 1 is all of  the operations in one setup the others are how i would usually brake out the programing . cheers

Hi

Its because your holes are at a compound angle in your setup

compoundangle.png

They are at 6.5 degrees to the X axis but are also a small amount off compared to the Z axis(~0.6°), I don't think this is intentional, looking at your design history there are alot of errors, but also where the features are originating from you have used move commands to position the block the hole goes in so I suspect that is where it has gone wrong.

I would personally go back through the design and fix up all the errors and warnings.

I'm not an expert in the design side of things, but your approach is very messy, lots of moves and deletes etc.

It may be worth asking in the design forum  about a better approach, there are some very clever people there that are more than willing to help out.
