Hello,
I'm looking for a detailed explanation of all the ways that a 4 th axis can be programmed to run forwards or backwards. I am engraving our company logo and part numbers into a large cylinder and during testing the 4 th axis direction changed. Yesterday I machined a small part of the text in a test piece to set the depth of the tool, this morning I reposted the whole operation and all of the text was mirrored backwards. The only thing I changed in the toolpath was the lead in/ lead out from helical to plunge to save some time. What aspects of the toolpath or the post processor can change the direction of the rotation?
I have actually fixed the toolpath just by inverting the a Axis rotation on the machine settings, I just want to understand what happened to cause the mirrored text so I have a fuller understanding of the system. Also for reference I tried changing the rotation direction by modifying the Euler line code and the aAxis creation code in the post processor as suggested in this post and neither seemed to have any effect.
Thanks for your help!
