2d bore issue on finishing pass

I am milling a pocket that has a diameter of 8.76mm, using a 6mm single flute end mill.  I am using the "Bore" feature.  When I have the checkbox for "finish pass" checked, the end mill will gauge the part on the finish pass, as it tries to lead in outside the diameter of the hole.  There is no way to control that lead in, or to prevent that from happening.  My work around was to not run a finish pass, but I believe there is an issue with that feature in regards to leading in on the finish pass only.  If I am neglecting a setting or if I am missing something, please advise.

Thank you.

What are your settings for Lead-in and Out, and what are you running for Cutter Compensation?

I am using the "In Control" setting for compensation type.

The horizontal lead in/out radius is .005'' and the lead distance is .005''.

No matter what I change it to, it will gauge.  The lead in and lead out values are honored on the spiral down-toolpath, but not the finish pass.

Can you share the file, or at least tell me what size tool and hole you are trying to machine? I'd like to take a look at what is actually going on.

I'll tell you right now that I would not expect to see this with Wear or Computer compensation. I'm not entirely suprised to see this with Control, but it does bug me. Let's take a look at the file and proceed from there.

File > Export > Save to local folder. Return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply

We have to use the "In Control" setting for our Datron NEO's.  It's the only setting that will work with the post and the machine.  Please see attached file, and the screenshot illustrating the feature in question.  I added the "finish pass" to highlight the problem I'm having.

I think this is a bug, unfortunately. I'll play with it some more in the morning, but that's where I'm leaning. You "could" use Computer compensation, but that won't give you the ability to tweak it in.

Datron doesn't support Wear comp?!

I think it has to do with the relationship between the diameter of the hole and the diameter of the cutter.  The finishing leads appear to be separate, and not controllable, from the main features' settings.  The other bore features did not gauge, as the diameters are larger, however, the leads do appear to be larger than the specified amount in the settings.

At this time, the Datron machines only work with "In Control" checked.  For some reason, any other setting will create code that will not run in the machines.  I've spoken to Datron about this, and at this time, their recommended solution is to use "In Control" only.

Thank you for your quick attention to this matter!
