Custom Script Error Messages

 It should be possible to display meaningful messages from all script types.

Example:

We are using two workspaces with workflow; the first workspace is effectively an overview of a product development process. The others are sub-processes with their own workflow. In these sub-processes, action scripts automate certain transitions in the overview workspace.

If for any reason the states do not match when attempting one of these transitions, the standard custom script error displays "There has been an error running a custom script, contact your system administrator)".

It would make us administrators look better if the message could be changed to be more meaningful. I understand this can only be done on validation scripts at present.

Thank you for this idea post. Something PMs are evaluating is catching and overriding scripting exception to provide more graceful messages to end-users. This seems to play well into these discussions.

Are there any updates with regard to this feature request?

This feature would improve several of our "on edit" scripts where we implement checks that cannot be done by the default validation rules of the item details.

Currently, we throw a script error which is not very user-friendly (as it does not explain the exact reason of this error).

If this idea has been postponed or rejected, I would like to open it again.
