Ability to import items into FLC workspaces in batch mode.

Ability to import items into FLC workspaces in batch mode.

When it comes to the situation where in one has to migrate whole bunch of data from a legacy system to FLC, it is really painful to build excel files for each batch of data that has to be imported. Invoking the standard Import tool in FLC UI in batch mode is a best bet to alleviate the fore mentioned issues.

As the majority of the data exchanges happen b/w the systems using CSV format, it would be a great feature to invoke import tool to process multiple files (from the data dump in CSV format from legacy system) in batch mode along with a configuration file (which specifies column mapping, match on field, import configuration settings, etc)
As you know manual import requires lot of time for the preparation of input files as well as to import the items.

Started adding an Idea for this but then noticed that Madhav already requested it.Smiley Happy

Here's my input on the request:

In the FLC API you can GET multiple Items in one request but the PUT Items endpoint only accepts a single Item.

Having to upload thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of items either for Migration or Integration through the API takes 2-5 seconds per Item (100,000 items X  2 seconds = 200,000 Seconds = 3,333 Minutes = 55.55 Hours = 2.31 Days).

Consider this when you have to upload a BOM to an Item, through an integration and none of the children exist yet or need to be updated. If your BOM contains 100 children, that could potentially take 3.3 minutes to upload. If you have a BOM with 1000 items your looking at over 33 minutes.

Enhancing the ../workspaces/{id}/items endpoint to accept an array of Items would allow for bulk item Create/Update and expedite this whole process.
