Partial Workflow Locking - Attachments

I'm familiar with workflow locking, and am trying to limit what a user can do as far as editing an item when it's at a certain workflow.

At or beyond a certain state, I need a user to:

a) be able to add an attachment to an item

-BUT-

b) not be able to edit or modify anything else in the item details.

I cannot think of any way to achieve only this, since it seems like you can only have all-or-none when it comes to workflow locking.

Is there any workaround that anybody can think of? Even scripting-related? I'm stumped, and it doesn't seem like a very complex thing to accomplish.

Hi Johnny, your understanding is correct ~ a locked WF state puts multiple tabs into readonly mode all at once. Currently a controlled, per tab locking static setting or a dynamic per-section locking rule system isn't available. We've explored concept like that in the recent past around offering control to (un)lock, collapse/expand, and even (un)hide item details sections of choice depending on your custom-defined rules and closures e.g. Based on wf or lifecycle state or other criteria. Insofar, these are all conversational concepts; have nothing planned for foreseeable future on this front. If our plans change, I'd like to reach you to discuss the concept in more detail. Hope this is okey with you? Meantime, it would help us greatly if you could jot down this ask in our FLC IdeaStation. Thanks in advance,
