Linking to Vault Workgroup from PLM 360

Hi all,

New user of Fusion Lifecycle/PLM 360.

We have a workflow and the users would like to link to a file in Vault Workgroup, rather than atttaching the file to the PLM 360 record. Is there a way to do this so that when the user clicks on the file, it automatically opens Vault Workgroup and displays the file?

Thanks,

Eric

Eric,

In the File menu in the Vault Workgroup client, you should see a Send option. This option will only be enabled when you have a file selected in the file grid.  Select Send -> Send Link.  This will pop open an new email message with a link to the file.  You can then copy that to the PLM 360 record.

Thank you the reply.

I notice that by using this method, each time a link is clicked, it opens a new instance of Vault. Is there any way to re-use an open instance? I.e. If I have Vault open and click on a Vault link, its sets the Vault browser to the correct file.

Also, has there been consideration given to creating a Vault data field type in PLM? When configuring the field, the location of the Vault repository could be specified, and the user could push an 'Add Vault File' button, browse the Vault directly from PLM and add a link to the file.

Thanks,

Eric
