2FA question

I know that we can use Microsoft Authenticator app, Duo Mobile app, … and others to generate codes to handle two-factor authentication (2FA).

These apps generate codes, but some also support push notifications that makes responding easier.

When I log into Microsoft accounts, they send a push notification to the MS Authenticator app on my phone, which makes responding much easier than finding the account in the list and copying a code.

So this is a good app to use when logging into Microsoft accounts.

Does Autodesk 2FA send push notifications to any particular app provider, in the same way?

I mean, if I choose a certain authenticator app, will it allow me to respond to a push notification and avoid needing to copy a code across?

Any suggestions please?

If SSO gets enabled, the given authentication provider will be used to authenticate logins, so the answer is yes. When you login to your Autodesk account, you will receive a push notification in your authenticator app where you will then have to approve your login (e.g. by entering a 2-digit code).

Thanks Sven

My question was about the 2FA linked to Autodesk ID.

Autodesk are retiring the SMS option (sends code over SMS), and if we want to use 2FA with Autodesk IDs then authenticator app is the option to use. I had users ask about moving from SMS to authenticator app, and whether there was a choice that could work with push notification to avoid having to type the code in.

It seems that it is not possible to receive a push notification through any of the authenticator apps in this Autodesk ID scenario.

Yes, SSO does give a good experience and can be worth the setup effort. The setup support that Autodesk give customers to help set up SSO on their tenants has been very strong.
