Can I reset Sequencer start number via script

I have created a sequencer and it increments with every new item I create.  Can I reset the starting number back to 1 after a certain condition?

For example I have a numbering scheme, 2016-1, 2016-2, etc...  When the new year occurs I want 2017-1, 2017-2 etc.  How can I do this in my script?

I don't think you can reset a sequence, but maybe you make multiple sequences ... one for 2016 and another for 2017.

Ya...I thought about that too.....then I would have a running list of sequencers seq[0] for 2016, seq[1] for 2017.

I will use the current year as part of the sequence name.  That way when the year changes, a new sequence name starts and it will be set back to 0.
