Fusion Team - Access Asset folder

Hi,

Until now Asset Folder is only available to "Team Member" (and admins) but not for "Project Contributors"...
Is it by design?

could it be possible to modify this?

It's really a big step giving "Team Member" membership to all our Fusion 360 users.

They will be allowed to create new projects and we wanted to prevent that.

could it be possible to either give some visibility to PC (Project Contributors) or create a "Team Member" without rights to create "Projects" without admin validation?

Many Thanks

1. Yes, this is by design that only Team Members can assess Assets Folder. I would strongly recommend to not convert your external collaborators (Project Contributors) to Team Members just to give them access to Assets folder. This may cause unintended security threat exposure for all your projects having type=Open.

2. As a current workaround, you may explore creating a Closed project and adding all your Project Contributors there as viewer/editor (as required).

3. Future roadmap - we are working on bringing the Assets folder under the ambit of the new type of Project (Folder Level Project) where you'll be able to have a granular control of access irrespective of the user's Role at hub level. See more in the 'Folder Level Project' section of this help article.

Hi,

Yes, many thanks that's what I was considering, I mean using a project (with folder permission)...

but one thing interesting was that the Asset folder is easily foudable in the browser list, and it is also accessible by different features for saving/sharing Manufacturing Tools, Posts, or Appearences, materials etc...

dear @abhinav_singh

and regarding your #1 , our "Project Contributors" are almost all "internal" users.

But as we don't want that each user was able to create Project they have only that rôle.

so if it could be possible to give a "Member Team" rôle without the ability to create his own Project it could be fine.

Currently, for all Legacy project types - no, every Team Member by default has ability to create Projects (Legacy projects, that is Open/Closed/Secret).
In future, when you will start using only Folder Level Projects (and Legacy Projects are phased out) - yes, there will be a setting to allow only specific people to be able to create new Projects. You need to go to Admin > Members & Roles > You'll see a column "Folder-Level Project Creator" > mark checkbox against whom you wish to be a Project creator.
By the way, are you already using FL Projects? are you an Education license holder?
