Why are the sidebars and panels still resizing themselves? It's been over a year since this started.

In June of 2022 I posted a thread about the sidebars resizing themselves and asked for the team to make the UI remember changes that the users make. This is STILL broken and somehow worse. Not only does the right hand sidebar still default to taking up 1/3 of my screen every single time I open an electronics design, but the panels in the side bars hide and unhide themselves constantly.

Every time I open an electronics library the stupid "Display Layers" panel shows up. I do not want it there. I have done the file > view > hide display layers panel setting, and it reverts every time I restart fusion. If you instead just minimize the panel, it unminimizes every single time you open or close the data panel. When I open a component in the library I have to resize the views of the footprint/3d component/variants windows so I can actually see all of them. Why does it just not remember the resize?

The same BS happens in the schematic and layout windows. Opening and close the data panel forces the left sidebar back to the default layout instead of just keeping it the way I've rearranged it. I also hide the "library" column from the "place components" panel in the schematic panel because I'm always working from a single library and the default view has the component name so cropped you just can't read enough of it. And yet I have to make this change every single time I open a design.

I posted an update to my original thread in December of 2022 say that this stuff wasn't fixed. with no reply. Please. Fix this stuff. It doesn't matter what rendering or performance improvements you make if the stupid UI makes me never want to use the software. Let me make this clear, I do NOT want the default arrangement that the fusion team has created. I hate the default setup. I do not have any other software that I use that has a problem remembering changes the user makes to the interface. Even the other workspaces in fusion do not have this problem, it's just the electronics workspace.

Hey @chris.eganY2EK3,

I hope this message finds you well. I believe this is being worked on, but I'll bring it up to the attention of the developers to confirm.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I really hope it's being worked on, because that is the same reply from the thread a year ago. Having to restructure the entire UI every time I open a file, and many times while working on a file, really makes using fusion electronics unpleasant.

Hi @chris.eganY2EK3,

So I spoke to the panels developer and he confirmed that the next release of Fusion has fixes on the panel side. The other issues you mention with the library editor belong to a different team. I'll bring it up to their attention.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I can confirm the weird behaviour of the sidepanels.
This is how I found the workspace after my computer went to sleep for 5 minutes:

This is the workspace after resizeing the window. (Just make the window small and then fullscreen; so minimizing):

And this is after moving the window from my external monitor to the monitor of my laptop and back to the 2nd monitor:

In the Windows configuration I set the external monitor as the main monitor, while the laptop is the 2nd monitor.
The scaling is set to 100% at the external monitor and 150% at the laptop.

Hi @chris.eganY2EK3  & @lars.jepkens ,

Thanks for being active on the forums and spending time posting feedback/ideas. I'm sorry you've had these negative experiences - I agree the current behaviour of the panels should have a better experience today and it's something we're investigating.

Areas around panel location/size persistence are great points and I can totally understand how frustrating this could be to work around day-to-day.

Jorge is totally right, we're always investigating regressions but to understand your requirements of these larger and more future-facing improvements more deeply, I'd love to set up some time to chat. I'll send you both a DM now.

Best regards,

Melisa
