Via stitching performance

I am trying via stitching. It's great! Except that it seems to make performance unreasonable. Using it on the whole board I have found that if I want to make changes to routing or anything that I have to delete the via stitching and then readd it. Is there a hide or temporary disable feature for the via stitching? Or is this slowness unexpected?

Hi @fusion3608TH2K

Thanks a lot for reproting this issue to us!

How many vias do you have for via stitching in your 2d PCB file?

Do you have polygon in your 2d PCB?

You can hide polygon and then try to Route.

Please have a try to see if can help a liitle.

And it would be great if you can share your file to us.

Our develop can double check it to see if we can do some improvement for it.

I will send my email address to you as a private message

Hi @fusion3608TH2K ,

I hope this message finds you well. The idea to hide or unfill the via stitching is fair. With that said for now it's best to leave it towards the end of the routing process. Via stitching seeks to fill in available areas in the polygon fill, if you still have routing to do you are just making your life harder by having the stitching present. It is a computationally intensive operation so even if we implement a hide or unfill operation, best practice still dictates to leave it for last.

I did leave it to the end. And then I decided to change a part. Since it was full board ground stitching I found it easy to delete and recreate. But it is otherwise unusable. Routing, every time I click takes several seconds of the system being froze then lets me do another segment.

Hi @fusion3608TH2K,

We have your feedback and are looking to the possibility of having it fill and unfill. For now, the only option is to delete the via stitch and re-add it after you make your changes.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
