Via Placement issue

Hi all!

I am working on a 0.65mm pitch BGA.

While adding vias to the middle of BGA where most of the power and ground pins are, I found an issue where I cannot place ground pins vias or connect to them. Rest of the pins are fine, just this cluster of ground pins giving an issue.

When using manual routing, when I first click on the ground pin, then press space to swap to via, it won't allow me to place the via anywhere where there are other ground pins adjanced.  It just jumps over where the via should go.

Other signals are totally fine, just this cluster of ground pins.

If I manually place via inbetween the pins and turn on the "ignore violators" I can manually route connection from the ground pin. Then I can see it gives me an overlap error and I notice that the via and the ground pin don't share the same signal. Fusion does not seem to automatically connect the via and the ground signal to same signal like it does normally.

The workaround I found was to place the vias to the correct place, manually change the via's signals to GND and then to connect the ground pins to vias. No more errors.

But there is clearly some issue as this only manifests to pins with same signals what are clustered together.

Hope the  workaround helps some other people who might be struggling with the same issue.

The "same signal" DRC setting is turned to 0 to turn them off. Also all my other DRC settings are correct.

@HelenChen-ElectronicsQAYou already have my file from my previous via crashing issues ie. CER_228793869.  I had the same issue on that file, so you can test on that file.

All the best!

Petri

So sorry for my late response.

I could reproduce this issue you reported and logged a ticket to our development team to check.

Much appreciated for keeping us be aware of issues.

Thank you.

Hi @phaggren ,

Hope all is well.

We are revisiting this issue you reported and realized that you may have the "snap_length" set too big/large, could you please try running below command in the Command line firstly, and then do the same steps?

set snap_length 1.0mil

It works for me.

Hope it works for you too.

Regards,

Helen

Hi @phaggren ,

Or you could change the setting from:

Preferences->Electronics-Misc->Snap Length.

Hope it helps.
