Via placement doesn't connect to ground plane

During manual routing; when connecting a top layer trace to a bottom layer polygon assigned to the same net (GND in this case), using a via, it doesn't recognize that the traces are connected unless you re-pour the polygon.  This messes up the layer switching during routing because you have to manually escape from each route or close the routing command.  I could swear this worked previously, but now it seems to not.

I think I've hit the same issue.

I have a GND plane/polygon on the bottom layer and a lot of SMD pads on the top layer that need connecting to it/GND.

If I use v. short trace on the top layer to a via with signal name set to GND it doesn't recognise this as a connection to GND and doesn't delete the rest of the airwire.

I created the GND plane using the method in this vid from about 22min 30 sec

Hi @kb9ydn and @colin.watters,

When you press the spacebar to place the via, if you hold the shift button when you left click to place the via. The trace will stay on the same layer so the via will just connect to the polygon.

Let me know if you continue to run into problems with this.

This doesnt work. It still ignores my ground plane and makes and insulates the area around the via.

Hi @zcemrrk,

I hope you're doing well. What net are you routing? The via will only connect to the ground plane if it has the same name as the ground signal. If they are different then it won't connect.

Let me know if you continue to run into problems.
