Hi,

Designator(tNames layer, >NAME variable) is not in same place in 3D package as in footprint.

This is first time this problem happend to me. Other footprints are okey.

Grid is 0.5mm(for ref)

Hi @silvio3105 ,

This is just a guess on my part but can you confirm what the text justification on your 2D footprint is? I have a feeling the justification being something other than bottom-left is causing the difference.

Let me know if that's not the case.

Hi @silvio3105 ,

I think that explains it. @yqliu Is there an easy way to have the text justification taken into account when the footprint outline in the 3D model is generated?

The 3D package environment is designed to just create 3d model. The appearance of the footprint might be different than that in footprint editor. Partially because sketch in 3d package environment can't present the same visualization with footprint editor. The other reason is we think some of the information is not helpful for 3D model creation. In this case, the text position will not impact the footprint, 2D PCB and 3D PCB. Do you have any concerns about the position? @silvio3105

No really but I see where I could have it.
In other ECAD SW there's no 3D and 2D workspace - you just import STEP and place it on footprint. That nice because I want to see does 3D package covers/hides tName since it needs to be visible with placed component.
Also, position of tPlace(silkscreen) lines is important(for me, atleast) becuase I use them as indicators for component dimensions(since in 2D PCB I don't have any indicators do components overlap in 3D space).

If I remember, I've posted suggestion to make special layer that holds 3D component outlines in lib editor so user can see do components overlap in 2D PCB withtout going to 3D(it's slow to make 3D PCB every 10 mins).

This makes sense. I have created a ticket for the team to fix it.

We will also discuss the requirement of special layer that holds 3D component outlines in lib editor.

Seems that problem is on 90/270° of rotation.
