Hi,

I am having issues opening a PCB board file, I think this has come about from a recent crash that has not recovered, but I cannot confirm. The error I recieve when trying to open the PCB file is:

brinleyreid2_1-1671095129470.png

I am able to open the scematic without issue.

I have followed the steps in the help article which did't solve my issue: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Ref...

This file is up to V34 and I can open versions under V18, but there is a lot of work that has gone into the latter versions of this file that I wish to open or recover.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Many Thanks

Hi @brinley.reid2,

I hope you're doing well. If you can export the files in their current state so we can check them out we may be able to fix them. In the worse case you might have to fall back to the last version of the board that worked.

Hi @brinley.reid2 , I managed to restore your PCBs (v34). You can either create a new design and link to the restored files, or you can break the old link from electronics design document and re-link to the new one.

@yqliu,

Thank you very much! It works perfectly now.

Would you be able to offer any insight into what was done to fix the problem in case anyone comes accross the same issue in the future?

Thanks again

@brinley.reid2 , Glad to know it worked.

Here is what I did and why it works:

The Fusion documents just like Microsoft Word or Excel documents are zip archives. You mentioned there was a crash and the error indicates that the problem is the link info between the Electronics design and the PCB document is missing. In this case, most probably the pcb design is not broken. So I unzipped the .fbrd file, search the .brd file and open it in Fusion. That's all.
