Ok, I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong.  I am importing a schematic, a footprint, and possibly even a package and component so that I can slightly edit the footprint of a component.  Everything seems to work fine.   I have each of those created under the proper tab of the content manager.  However, when I go to map the pins with the footprint so that I can actually use the component in my design it doesn't work.  While under the components tab, I can click new and find the footprint that I have edited... great.  Now I need to connect it to the schematic that I have also edited (removed a pin and removed a pad in footprint).  However, I only see the pad numbers.  There are no pins showing up to connect to.  I am having this problem often.  I have some how managed to make it work a couple of times, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is that makes it work.  Please help!

Thanks!

Hi @nickenglish8,

I hope you're doing well. Make sure to also add in the symbol to the component. In the component you have to bring in both the symbol and the footprint. The lack of the symbol is the reason the pins don't show up.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thanks @jorge_garcia , but I’m still confused. I have a symbol created under the symbol icon. I think I was using the wrong word in my original post. I was calling it schematic, but I meant symbol. I have something in all 4 of the categories, but I can’t get them to connect.

here are a couple screen shots:

Thanks for helping!

Hi @nickenglish8,

I hope you're doing well. So with the first picture it shows that the symbol has not been associated with the component. The linking isn't based off of name you have to go into the component and add a symbol to the component and add a footprint, to then be able to link it. Check out this video when you have a moment.

I see that you can create one by right clicking in the component menu and add footprint/symbol etc.  But how do I import an existing one in to that same drop menu?  If I click on create new up at the top it doesn't seem to link it to the component.

Thanks

I think maybe I figured out my error.  I was not "adding part"  I am not sure exactly why this has to be done and why the import option doesn't allow you to import it directly to the component drop down, but I do think I know what I was doing wrong before.

Thanks.
