Routing and design rules

Hello,

 

I am trying to create a carrier board to hold an existing board.  My carrier board has pin headers and the daughter board has the female connectors.  I created a sketch of the daughter board and inserted it into my carrier PCB, and align everything. 

 

The problem is that I am getting design rules errors for the connectors that I aligned manually.  

 

What is the best way to handle this?  Did I miss a step somewhere?

Hi @PascalCleve,

 

I hope you're doing well. Once you have the components aligned you should remove the alignment drawing since that will create the overlap errors you are seeing.

Hello,

Thanks for the answer. I thought that was the problem, but how do I remove
the alignment drawing? I cannot select them and delete them.

I inserted a DXF file. I was able to delete a few things, but there is
nothing else I can select and delete.

Hi @PascalCleve,

 

I hope you're doing well. When you import the DXF it's usually recommended to import to some layer that's not being used for anything else. The DXF when imported doesn't stay linked as an object, it becomes individual line items so deleting them is problematic if the DXF is on a layer that is used for other things.

 

What layer did you import it to?

I am new at this, so when I imported I did not pay attention to the layer I was using.  I think I imported it in the detault layer, which is the top layer.  If there is no easy solution, I can probably blow everything and restart.  Now that I understand the process, it should not be too bad.

The violation is happening both on the top and bottom layer, which is a bit strange.

Hi @PascalCleve,

 

Through hole pads have objects on both top and bottom layers. If the DXF went to something like the dimension layer then it would affect both top and bottom layers.

Is there a recommended layer I should use to insert the desired layout, so
that I can get rid of it later.

I hope you're doing well. Use layer 49, it's not used by anything in Fusion Electronics by default.
