Rename managed library (Library.io)

Hello,

I must be missing something; I cannot find any way to rename a managed library (library.io)

  • Online through Library.io - there's simply no rename option anywhere
  • Fusion 360 - no rename option. The 'info' panel shows a name (which changes when renaming the Fusion 'file') - but this name change isn't reflected in the library manager / Library.io (nor is there any way to set a description?)
  • Eagle 9.6.2. - no option to rename the library, but you can edit the description

I find this way:

Eagle and library.io

- Open the library you want to rename in eagle library editor

- Save the library as: New library name

- Make this one a managed library

- Eagle side and library.io sorted at that point

Fusion 360

- File> New library

- Create> Open

Delete the old named library in Eagle (as well as library.io) and Fusion 360.

- Select the new library

- Save

Hi @DavidVoxon@cyril.fleurot ,

Thank you very much for asking and sorry for any inconvenience.

There are 2 options for your reference, hope it helps a little.

1. You could rename the managed library via the data panel

Right click the library > Select Rename > Then if you open the managed library in Fusion, it's renamed, and if you add part in schematic file, you could see the name is changed in the Add Part list too. Please check out the attached video for reference.

Notes: With this way, if you view the managed library on library.io, the name of it is not updated.

2.  You could add the description of the managed library in Fusion 360

Please check our the image below for reference.

Hope it helps a little bit.

Best regards,

Helen
