"Eagle" Command line

I have been working with Eagle and Fusion 360 for many years. Yesterday I saw a video about Elctronics Design in Fusion 360. It looks like Eagle is moving to Fusion 360. OK, it's logical. So I tried it immedeatly with new project and I'm a little disappointed. In Eagle, I often use a commands entered via command line. There works decimal comma and decimal point, unlike Fusion 360. In Fusion 360 I have to press a Slash key to enter command line, but often it's not working. For example, when I click to Line command in footprint editor, appears window about line properties and when I press a Slash key to enter coordinates, command line does not become active. So I have to take a mouse and click to command line.

Hello @radikn,

I hope you're doing well. I can't reproduce this, it's working as expected for me. I'm on Windows 10, I activate the line command, press / and then enter the first coordinate of my line.

As much information as you can provide will help us get to the bottom of this.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi Jorge,

thank you for your reply. I was modifying the coordinates of one object and in edit box user control I press slash key. Command line did not take a keyboard focus, unlike Eagle. In Eagle when I'm editting a coordinate in edit box and I press Ctrl+L, command line take a keybord focus and I can enter command immediately.

And ... I'm absolutly lost in new concept of libraries. I had read https://www.autodesk.com/products/eagle/blog/new-managed-online-libraries-use/  and I thing that I understand it. In past, I worked in Eagle, where I drawed schematic, PCB and create a parts in own libraries. Fusion 360 I used only for creating 3D model of parts. Footprint and 3D model I connected in Eagle library editor.

From 2 days ago I want to work only in Fusion 360. I tried to create a part. I created symbol, footprint and from footprint 3D model. Everything in Fusion 360 and everything was OK. Then when I wanted to push the changes to library.io I had to save library to team workspace. Ok, I did it, it is like creating local copy of managed library and I pushed new version of library into library.io. But, now there is exclamation in Library manager near to library name and when I generate PCB 3D model there is not 3D model of new part although library contain correct 3D model.

Is there any text I could study to understand the philosophy of working with libraries in Fusion 360? Why is there a question mark?

Have a nice day. Radikn.

@jorge_garcia  Please, how to disable Fusion 360 command line behaviour (press slash -> type command -> press enter)? Old eagle command line is much more effective - just type and enter.

Reason? Pressing a slash key to enter command line often does not work in Fusion 360.

Hi @vfprivate ,

I hope you're doing well. Unfortunately, this isn't possible because Fusion 360 uses a completely different shortcut system. So for at least some time this will be the norm. It actually isn't possible in more recent versions of EAGLE because of certain functions as well.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi @vfprivate

I hope you are doing well!

Based on Jorge's comment, I want to introduce an option for command line.

You can check the Legacy command line focus check box in the Preferences dialog.

Please have a try to see if it helps you, thanks!

Thank you for your response.  I already use Legacy command line, it's still inefficient and slow compared with cadsoft eagle. Just imagine you are working with schematic and want to view some signal, lets say all RMII ethernet signals. Command in old eagle: sh @ RMII*.

In fusion I just add slash and type the same command.  This is acceptable on desktop with full size keyboard with dedicated slash key. On portable devices without this key is this terrible.. I have to combine ctrl/shift + slash + write the command. Really slow and annoying for everyday work. Maybe if the whole fusion application wasn't so slow, the new command line will be also acceptable.

1) Change to slash key to some other key? ie user defined?

2) Also as mentiond in the first post, slash key is not always working. Example: fucus in the Data panel or in list of icons with tools (move, copy, paste, label, add part, etc). When will be this issue solved?

3) From a programmer's point of view, what is the problem of having focus in the command line?

Hi @vfprivate

I hope you are doing well!

I try this option check/Uncheck, and both of them works well for me https://autode.sk/3vaCIuU

It is strange that it can't work well for you.

Would you mind providing more information about this issue? Do you use the non-us keyboard (It is a known issue that Slash can't work well in non-us keyboard)?

Hi @vfprivate ,

In regards to 3) the problem with giving the command line focus is that you lose the possibility of single key shortcuts which is a key thing in Fusion 360 and something we leverage in the route commands.
