Questions about editing the solder mask

Please help

I have a question about editing the soldermask in ECAD.

When I convert a schematic ⇒ 3D, Bord, copper and soldermask are automatically created,

Is it possible to edit them as follows?

(1) Is it possible to create a 3D model with the "16-soldermask" on the bottom side deleted in advance?

(2) Is it possible to create a soldermask on top of the soldermask?

(3) If the soldermask shape is different from the board shape, is this supported?

Hi @S・T ,

I hope you're doing well. So to answer your questions directly, 1 and 2 are a no. I'm not clear on why you would want to do 2, could you tell me?

For 3 I would say it is supported, because you can draw whatever voids you want in the stop mask.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

@jorge_garcia

Hi,Thanks for replying to me.

I'm really glad you responded.

I understand about (1).

The reason I want to do (2) is because I am creating a PCB unique to the company.

If you don't mind, can you tell us how to do (3)?
Or do you have a sample model?

Hi @S・T ,

If you really want to do 2) you could make it happen by using a custom user layer as the second stopmask. This will require good communication with your board house but it should be possible.

For 3) all you have to do is manually draw the openings on the Top Soldermask and Bottom Soldermask layers. Remember these are reverse layers, so what you are actually drawing are the voids in the soldermask, areas that won't have it.

Just use the drawing tools to draw those features in.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
