Problems with CAM-Processor Layer naming

Hi,

I recently did some small changes to a PCB and exported the production files, it looks like with the latest update the localization / renaming of some functions broke the "Leiterplattenform" in German or "Board Outline" in English UI language, as if activated it is not looking for the layer 20 "Dimensions" it is looking for a layer called "Leiterplattenform" or "Board Outline" and therefore not able to export the corresponding layer. (Same problem for cutouts)

Also I dont think it is a good Idea to have localized layer names!

Thanks and please fix quickly!

Hi @HF_Claus ,

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble about this.

I just tried to export the gerber files with outline and cut-outs selected which are translated into local language, and I am able to get the correct result with profiles.

The localization changes we made recently in CAM Processor UI haven't touched this specific area. The way we generate the Board Outline and Cutouts hasn't changed, we don't use the Dimension layer but instead we read the outline and the cut-outs from the internal Board Shape object.

Hope it helps to answer your question.

If you could open your gerber file in 3rd party gerber viewer to double check, it would be great.

Please feel free to let us know if you still have any problem about this.

Hope you have a great day.

Best regards,

Helen

Hi @HelenChen-ElectronicsQA

thank you very much for your reply!

I'm sorry, but not working for me 😞

I created a test Board:

I can push it to the 3D-Board:

Doesn't detect the outline in CAM Preview:

The Profile gbr layer in the CAM-Processor doesn't detect outlines and cutouts:

And only copper on the top copper layer:

This are the exported gerber files:

And what is on the profile layer:

If I add Dimension and Milling layer to the Profile gbr layer it detects the outlines:

And I have an outline if I manually add Dimension to the Profile gbr layer:

I'm using the standard cam job templates.

Thank you!

Best regards,

Markus

Hi @HF_Claus,

I hope you're doing well. Something is wrong with your board outline, it's not being recognized as a closed contour. If it was then you would see a color difference between the inside of the board and the outside. Check all of the segments of your board outline make sure that there are no gaps and no overlaps must be a closed contour. A visual inspection will not be enough, you have to check the segments in the inspector one by one and make sure they connect smoothly. The other dead giveaway is that the Manufacturing preview didn't detect it.

This particular issue is not related to localization.

Let me know if you continue to run into problems

Hi @jorge_garcia

Thanks for pointing this out! I forgot to turn on detect board outline again after the last panel I created.

Best regards
