Polygons are not rendered in 3D view on Bottom side

I have some copper area made of polygons and assigned by net name. These on Top side //L1// are fine, but some of them on bottom side //L16// are not rendered, actually all on the BOT side are not visible.

Is this only my bad luck to this software or is this regular problem?

@jorge_garcia2 @yqliu  I have not seen this issue before.

@christopher2KLSVU , I know a couple of reports that the polygon copper was not generated correctly in 3d. But your case doesn't sound the same. Would you mind sharing your pcb file to me? And did you render it with canvases or real 3d?

In the 2D pcb editor I just click the 3D icon from the top bar. In the past second icon was called something with Canvas but now it is described as "3D PCB with options". I have not used it.

-----

When I choose "...with options" and tick later Canvases, the polygons on bottom side are rendered. The quality of the rendered 3D pcb is bit worse then.

Do you still need access to the project or is this information sufficient and the problem already well known?

The command of "View 3D PCB with options" is provided to give users more options to control the result of the 3D PCB. For example, when the board is very complicated, it would be very slow to create a full 3D PCB. Using the canvas option can make the process faster.

Can you confirm your polygon was created by Polygon Pour command or Polygon Shape command? If it's polygon pour, this is an unknow issue and please share your brd file to me. If it's polygon shape, this is known. We only convert polygon pour into 3d copper.

I used Polygon Pour from the control menu/bar. There is also problem when the vias overlaps components name on bName or Tname layer.

@christopher2KLSVU , the issue here is the geometries of the polygons did not meet the 3d modeling requirement and so the computing failed. As you might understand, 3d modeling is very strict with the geometries. This is not a common issue and that's why we didn't get this kind of report before. I don't have a quick solution at this moment. If you don't want to use 3D PCB with canvases, what you can try is to adjust the shape and layout of the polygons. The development team will also try to find a fix.

Thanks for quick investigation.  Yes, polygons usually have crazy shapes. It would be good to fix it. What are the requiments for good shapes?

Regards
