PCB Document (Board Layout) is not updated when schematic is changed

Hello,

A few days ago, I referenced one of my schematic documents which is drawn in Eagle, to create a new Fusion electronic design. I also built a PCB layout in Fusion from that schematic, however when I add new parts to my schematic and then switch to my PCB document (PCB layout) these new added parts are not shown and an error message appears, which says "check ERC there is inconsistency with board and schematic". However when I check ERC message box, there are no messages.

Any help will be appreciated.

Please let us know the steps you have taken.

I have been doing the following for what you are describing with no issues.

A: Start a fresh new Electronics Project
B: Save the empty project
C: Click the "Reference to a Schematic Document

😧 Click the "New PCB" button

E: Activate the project tab and you should see a Schematic and PCB in the window. This is a total of 3 files in the Data Panel: The project, Schematic, and PCB

Do you have all 3 files in the project?

First of all, thank you for the quick reply.

As I stated in my question. I have linked my schematic and I have a PCB (layout) builded in Fusion 360, thus yes I have all the three files. The problem is that when I add new parts to my schematic in Fusion, and switch to PCB (layout) the layout is not updated and it gives the ERC error "Part xxx is not found in the board" which is basically  statement of the problem that I am having. I want to be able to see new added parts in the left bottom side of the PCB as I add new parts in schematic.

Ok - I am trying to re-create your issue but have not been able to see what you are seeing.

I have created a number of new projects, imported existing Schematic, created a new PCB inside Fusion and adding parts seems to work just as expected. If you have any additional details about how you setup the project and what part you are picking from what library....it may help me better understand how to re-create this.

Even I could not find the source of this problem, I was able to solve it by first removing the added part from the schematic updated the PCB and re-adding the part removed both ERC error and consistency check then the new added part appeared in the PCB document.

So I think it was related to a broken back-annotation between the schematic and PCB.

Basically, you are correct the whole problem was related to forward and back annotation being broken.

I'm having this problem as well - I add a component to the schematic and it does not appear on the PCB when I click "switch to PCB".  All I get is an error that the F/B annotation is broken and running the ERC just shows that the component is missing - I know that and I need Fusion to actually add the component.

 The workaround from cem.bilaloglu95 to delete the component, switch to the PCB and switch back does not help in this case.

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. Fusion won't add the component for you. Run the ERC and it will probably tell you such and such part not found on the board. If that's what you see delete the component and run the ERC again, hopefully at this point the inconsistency is resolved and ERC reports both files as consistent. Always run the ERC after making changes, it will confirm once consistency has been restored.

If it doesn't it may show you some additional inconsistencies that needs to be resolved. The ERC reports inconsistencies in waves, first any differences in components then any differences in nets.

Try it and let me know if you continue to run into issues.

I too suffered this calamity...almost, now just a little setback.

Thinking about that something was out of sync, frequently saving is a good habit though.  So I looked through my recent time stamps and picked a time where the saved files were updated to with about 10 seconds of of each other.  I figured this meant everything was in sync at that time.  The design with 4 views, schematic, and the PCB layout board (not the 3d model) and promoted the 3 of them so they ware now the most recent versions.  Did not worry about the 3d model as it seems to be able to be undated with the View 3d PCB button.

Seems to be okay....  It would be nice if the tabbed sheet types had names on them...

So save with the project tab with the 4 views like Jorge says, and save often it seems.
