In Fusion Electronics, a button or menu item for creating text in a schematic or board layout is missing. You can still do it from the TEXT command from the command line, so the functionality is obviously there and working, but unless I'm missing something there is no way to create text by clicking, except by creating it in a library part and then placing the library part.
I am in the Fusion 360 Electronics Library Manager trying to add some text to indicate the ">NAME" attribute for a new part I am creating, but it does not seem to work.
The dialog comes up (after clicking and when typing in the TEXT command) but when I click OK, it does nothing. No text is added.
Same goes for the schematic editor and the layout editor. In fact the file receives no change at all.
Any ideas?
HI @mphatak68
I hope you are doing well!
For the text command, the usage is a little bit different in Fusion 360 compared with Eagle.
You can try the follow steps in Fusion 360:
1. Activate Text command
2.Type the context
3. After typing the context, you can just move you mouse, then you will find that the text is already stuck to the mouse.
Then you can put the text in the correct position by moving your mouse.
4. When you finish putting the text, then click the OK button in the Text command, then the text command will stop.
Please have a try to see if it works well for you. If you have any other questions, please leave your comment, thanks!

Hi Panpan.fan
Got it, thanks - it works now. Seems very counter-intuitive though.
Surely clicking OK should allow me to place the text, not make it disappear?
Hi @mphatak68
Yes, I think your opinion makes sense.
But for now, the OK button in the command dialog may confirm you action and stop the command. It follows the rule like any other commands in Fusion 360.
For me, it also confusing at the beginning. And I have reported this issue to the developer for an improvement. I will also attach your post in that ticket.
I will keep you updated if we change it. Thanks again for your post!
