Mass replace "generic" components in existing design.

Hi,

Is there a way to mass-replace a set of existing components in a schematic with something from Traceparts?

I have an existing schematic, in which I used the "generic" versions of a 2512 Resistor, since at that time, the value of the resistor was unknown, and the footprint was really what mattered as far as doing the board layout and milling setup.

But now I have the component value and have selected a specific part. I'd like to replace all the generic, value-less, RESISTOR US 2512 parts in my current design with this new part so that I can simulate the design, create a BOM, etc.

Alternatively, would it be possible to just edit the existing parts in the design to add the attributes myself - e.g., part number, value, tolerance, etc., without changing the already existing RESISTOR US 2512 in the library? Would I have to do that for each individual part (16 total)?

Hi @jwilkins8475 ,

I hope you're doing well. Ideally, you can use the design manager to form the selection and then in the inspector quick actions you'll see the option to do a replace.

The paintroller would be ideal for just updating the attributes of your existing resistors, but attributes aren't currently supported by the paintroller.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
