Library Device with two Footprints



I'm in the process of migrating my DipTrace library into Fusion360 Electronics.  I use a radio module that has male pins with two surface mount socket strips in my current design.  I have created two footprints for the socket strips, one for the left pins of the radio module and one for the right pins.  When placing these two footprints in the layout I have to be careful to ensure the spacing is the same as the radio module.


In my Fusion360 Electronics library I would like to create a device that has footprints for both socket strips with the correct spacing between them.  I would also like to create a 3D model of the radio module and sockets because the location of the radio module in my enclosure is critical.  


I realize I can create one footprint that contains pads for both socket strips and constrain the dimension between them this way.  However, I would like to use the Eagle Attribute system to define manufacturer part numbers for the socket strips in order for placement data to be contained in the .BRD file.  

Is there a way to create a device that is an assembly of other devices?


Second question:  When using the 3D Package Generator > Surface Mount Receptacle Header (Female) Straight > Single Row option to generate the socket strips the model generated is mirrored compared to the part I am trying to model.  That is, pad 1 is on the right, 2 left, 3 right etc., where I want pad 1 left, pad 2 right, pad 3 left.  My workaround was to generate the package then mirror, draw the correct footprint, then attach the mirrored 3d model.  Is there a better way to do this?

I hope you're doing well. I know exactly what you are referring to. Unfortunately it's not possible to create a device that is an assembly of other devices so that the BOM reflects the two strips you are ordering.


The best solution I can provide for now is to manually edit the BOM to correct for it.


As far as the package generator is concerned, for now you have to do that workaround.
